What Do We Feel When We ‘Feel’ Time ‘Passing’?
Abstract
The case has been previously made that the feeling of time ‘passing’ is accountable in terms of the perception of change. However, there is a long-standing intuition that time itself plays a role at a basic level of awareness in addition to external sensory inputs. Recent findings in neuroscience might be interpreted as supporting this intuition. Some implications are discussed and suggestions made for the conduct of further empirical studies.
